Day 71: Critique of a Video (6/20/11)

Standard:
  • Research, Evidence, and Point-of-View:Students detect the different historical points of view on historical events and determine the context in which the historical statements were made (the questions asked, sources used, author’s perspectives).
  • Historical Interpretation:Students understand and distinguish cause, effect, sequence, and correlation in historical events, including the long- and short-term causal relations.


Aim: The historians of 2016 will summarize and critique a YouTube video from their medieval history topic playlist.



Task 1: Submit your homework. This will be the last current event of the year.



Task 2 Quick Question: How often should a history or science teacher use videos in class? Why?



Task 3: Choose one of the videos from your playlist and complete the review.



Task 4: Create a new Google document (Document, Presentation, or Draw) and start brainstorming for your YouTube video.



Task 5 ELA: Since Ms. Hernandez is gone, for step 5 today we will be doing the ELA assignment. Make sure you pre-Socratic Seminar work is complete.



Homework: Complete the "Video Layout" graphic organizer, describing the video you're going to make.
